Sunday loop teaching runs cont.
I am told that we will be continuing the Sunday Ohiopyle teaching & Loop runs, probably through September (depends on weather and attendance). As I understand it, the schedule is as follows:
1 August: no teaching run, because it is the Sunday of Turkey Bash
8 August: no teaching Loop run, instead we will be doing the entire Lower (Ohiopyle - Bruner Run) with any of our students who are interested and who have done at least one acceptable Loop run (contact Jason Rigby for more info)
15 August: no teaching loop Run, as it is the Valley Falls 'learn to run waterfalls' clinic.
22 August: maybe a teaching run, bearing in mind that this is the Sunday after the Ohiopyle Falls day and the town may still be overrun with tourists?

August 8th Lower run, has there been any thought of the time of departure?

Okay, so I talked with Jason R. last night. Apparently there is a possible shortage of launch permits for this Sunday (8 August), so we will be doing the regular Loop teaching - though Jeff Prycl says that he'll be there teaching, so it may run somewhat longer than we've done so far this year. IF we have enough experienced students and safety boaters, I am thinking that we may split the group on Sunday and let those who want to (and can get launch permits) run the Lower Yough while the rest do the usual teaching & Loop run. Current plan is to do the Lower Yough teaching run on Sunday August 29. So as I understand it the schedule is:
8 August: teaching/Loop run, J. Prycl teaching
15 August: Valley Falls
21 August: Ohiopyle Falls (are we CERTAIN that we'll be allowed to run it this year?)
22 August: ?teaching/Loop run
29 August: Lower Yough teaching run
Corrections and clarifications are welcome.
